The recent Biomass Connect demo event at the IBERS Aberystwyth hub site was well received. The weather put on quite a show with glorious sunshine and calm conditions that were perfect for the harvesting demos and informal discussions on one of our trial fields. It was also ideal conditions for our drone pilot to get some footage. The event was well attended and everyone seemed to have a good time and found it useful. We enjoyed connecting with interested parties from a wide range of backgrounds too.
I don’t think we can describe it any better than the following social media post from an attendee:
Great day yesterday at Biomass Connect 🌱 event at @IBERS at the University of Aberystwyth. Kevin Lindegaard and Will MacAlpine gave interesting talks on a range of energy crops and how the new national research funding is building on earlier work to provide advice on the most appropriate crop for different parts of the country, soil type, local market and grower objectives. Kevin also overviewed the Envirocrops app and its new STEM game which is being funded as part of the programme , which I will certainly be looking at, to try and understand the challenges and opportunities of Energy Crops better .
An Interesting talk on chain saw safety and the peculiarities of battery saws thrown in as well, so a day we’ll spent .
Cardigan bay behind us, Cambrian mountains in front and a Red Kite overhead what’s not to like😊
That’s the sort of feedback we like. We can’t wait to see everyone at the ‘Field to Fire’ demo event on March 22nd at our BGI Chesham Hub Site. Click here for more details and registration.
